Golfers place fifth at home

Cole Conard’s 82 was good for a fifth place finish as the Custer High School golf team hosted the pre-region Custer Invitational last Thursday morning at Rocky Knolls Golf Course.
As a team the Wildcats finished in fifth place with a score of 373. St. Thomas More won the event with a score of 326, while also having the golfer who took medalist honors, Jeron Laurenti. Laurenti’s 74 was six strokes better than the second place finisher, Brett Enright of Lead-Deadwood.
Noah Zacher had the second-best score for Wildcat golfers with a 94. Other Wildcat scores included Lane Robb 96, Adam Baker 101 and Reese Kelley 104.
This week the team will head north, as it travels to the Douglas Quadrangular, where it will tangle with Douglas, St. Thomas More and Red Cloud in Box Elder. The meet begins at 4 p.m.
