Custer High School soccer team’s season-opening match against Sturgis, Levi Schryvers made a great pass to David Hernandez, who found the back of the net to give Custer a 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately for the Wildcats, it was the lone score in a game that was dominated by the visiting Scoopers.
It didn’t take but a few minutes for Sturgis to tie the game, and by halftime the Wildcats were down 3-1, eventually losing 6-1.
“It didn’t take long for our youth and inexperience to be exploited,”âsaid Custer assistant coach Casey Trandem. “We had great efforts from individual athletes, but just couldn’t stay connected on the field.”
