Golf team finishes fifth at Pre-Region meet

The Custer High School girls golf team played in the Pre-Region golf meet April 20 at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs, coming away with a fifth place finish.
The team was led by Rachel Petik, who shot a score of 110 on the 18-hole event. She was followed by Taylor Kuhn at 116, Katie Starr at 128, Jessy Harbach at 129 and Kendal Ashmore at 155. As a team, the Wildcats finished with a score of 483.
Medalist at the event was Lead-Deadwood’s Ellise Nichols, who fired an 83. She was followed by Schuyler Wetzel and Cassidy Vollmer, both of Hot Springs, at 86 and 87, respectively. The team title was won by the host Bison, with a total of 382. Lead-Deadwood finished at 402, good for second place.
